Android Authority Review: Meta Muse's Agentic AI Excels at Everyday Tasks in Week-Long Test

Android Authority's reviewer spent a week using Meta Muse, Meta's new agentic AI agent, and found it easy to customize and useful for RSS feeds, eBay deal scanning, and Gmail filtering. The reviewer used about 6% of the free weekly token allotment daily and considered the $20 monthly tier more reasonable than the $100 tier.

The reviewer wrote that Muse's onboarding avoids an intimidating blank prompt. On first boot, a mascot guides users through functions. The reviewer changed the avatar to an orange cat named Lotus and said the text-conversation format, with emojis, made the assistant feel less daunting. The review said Meta's attention to aesthetics could help users who remain uneasy about AI, but added that Muse needs substance to hold attention.

According to the review, Muse presents itself as having a computer at its disposal and can take on specific tasks, including making purchases, though it tells users a human must give final approval before money is spent. The reviewer remained unsure about letting AI buy things but found other uses. The reviewer set Muse as a personal RSS feed; every couple of hours it scans the internet for top stories across a range of topics, and after some back-and-forth the reviewer received a diverse list of articles.

The reviewer also instructed Muse to scan eBay twice a day for vintage electronics, including Palm PDAs and Apple PowerBooks. The first list was unimpressive, with items in poor condition or mismatched, but after the reviewer explained they wanted only new-in-box or excellent-condition items, sorted by newly listed and limited to auctions with Buy It Now, Muse produced a curated list twice a day. The review said this saved about 30 minutes of nightly searching.

Muse also connected to the reviewer's Gmail inbox. The reviewer wanted to filter and scan PR emails for product offers to review. Muse found an important one the reviewer had missed and tracked whether the reviewer responded and what agencies sent back. The review said such small tasks add up and make Muse feel like a turning point for average users, even if other AI agents have similar capabilities.

The reviewer said they split duties among AI models: Claude for coding, ChatGPT for general reasoning and information, and Muse as an addition that lives on the home screen. The reviewer maintained skepticism about AI dangers but said it is important to keep an open mind.

On pricing, the review said Meta offers generous token packages on Muse's free tier. With the reviewer's setup, they use about 6% of the weekly allotment per day. The reviewer wrote that 500 million tokens per week costs $20 per month, with a $100 tier for 3 billion tokens. The reviewer did not see a need for the $100 monthly tier for their usage but suggested the $20 tier was more reasonable.
