Android's Motion Assist anti-motion-sickness feature begins rolling out to Pixel devices

Google's Motion Assist feature, which uses moving dots to ease motion sickness while reading in a vehicle, is now rolling out to newer Pixel phones, according to Android Authority.

The rollout appears to be starting with newer Pixel devices. Android Authority notes that the feature has shown up on some Pixel 11 and Pixel 10 devices, though not all users see it yet. A Pixel 10 Pro XL user at ZDNet reported not having it, suggesting the rollout is gradual. The next Pixel Drop is not scheduled until September, but Motion Assist is arriving ahead of that.

To check if the feature is available, users can go to Settings, tap their profile picture, select "All services," and scroll down to "Personal & device safety." If Motion Assist is present, it will appear there. Users can set it to turn on automatically when motion is detected, or add a tile to the Quick Settings for manual activation. Within the feature, options exist to adjust the opacity, shapes, and color of the displayed pattern.

The feature mirrors a similar option already available on the iPhone, where users report it works well at reducing nausea while riding in a car. Since Google is rolling this out through a server-side update rather than a Pixel Drop, it may take some time before all compatible devices receive it.
