Android users start receiving Google's 24-hour sideloading process, and they're not happy
A Reddit user has received Google's new Android sideloading flow, which requires a restart and 24-hour wait, sparking frustration.
The screenshots, posted by Redditor Super-Ad8814 on an unidentified Android device, show a section requiring the user to confirm whether someone asked them to enable sideloading. The on-screen text warns that scammers often tell victims to sideload apps, and Google's fine print adds that government employees and legitimate business representatives will never ask users to enable sideloading.
Google announced a couple of weeks ago that it had started rolling out this new advanced flow for sideloading apps. The process requires users to restart their phones and then wait 24 hours before sideloading, a step that has drawn criticism. An Android Authority poll earlier this year also showed widespread opposition to the change.
