Anker announces SOLIX S5000 portable power station, lighter and more compact than 5kWh rivals

Anker has announced the SOLIX S5000, a 5,024Wh portable power station that is lighter and more compact than rivals in the 5kWh class, with early-adopter benefits worth $699.

The SOLIX S5000 is rated at 5,024Wh, making it the largest standalone power station by capacity from Anker, Android Authority reported. Anker promises 48 hours of backup from the unit, based on the cumulative power consumption of essentials such as a refrigerator, a Wi-Fi router, a coffee machine, lights, and a phone charger.

Anker launched the S2000 compact power station earlier this year, and the S5000 is now a larger option in its lineup, according to the report. Android Authority said the new model offers more power in a smaller, lighter footprint than the competition.

Android Authority noted that power disruptions can throw a wrench in daily routines and derail important activities. A power station can help users guard against such interruptions, the publication said, while portable models add the freedom to carry power to a temporary work shed or on a camping trip.
