Anthropic Pledges $100M to Train 10,000 Enterprise AI Engineers, Expands Claude Startups

Anthropic will spend $100M to train 10,000 enterprise AI engineers and expand its Claude Startups benefits.

According to TechRadar, the academy is designed to support enterprise adoption of Claude. Anthropic said the target is 10,000 FDEs who can identify use cases, handle security considerations and drive deployment for Claude customers. Steve Corfield, Anthropic’s global head of business development and partnerships, said in a statement that “Claude Frontier Academy trains people the way our own engineers learn,” adding that the company wants graduates “to set the standard for how AI gets built inside a business.”

The training begins with a simulated enterprise deployment before trainees enter a 12-week residency “where they lead a real Claude use case at their own organization,” according to TechRadar. Initial cohorts are expected to include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk.

Anthropic has already issued more than 175,000 Claude certifications to workers across 46,000 companies through its broader Claude Partner Network, TechRadar reported. The FDE program differs from a similar effort by OpenAI: TechRadar said OpenAI focuses on training its own workers to transform customers’ companies, while Anthropic’s academy is primarily aimed at training other companies’ engineers to become FDEs. Reuters recently reported that OpenAI’s enterprise sales had doubled since July 2026, according to TechRadar.

Separately, Anthropic announced an expansion of Claude Startups, a program it initially launched in May. CNBC reported that thousands of companies already participate and that Anthropic is opening the program to more organizations. Members receive access to thousands of dollars worth of Claude products and credits, the company said.

Anthropic said in a release that it created the program because “the benefits of AI will reach most people through the companies that build on top of models, rather than through the models alone.” The company added that “partnering closely with founders and developers” is central to its mission.

Under the expanded program, members can receive up to $45,000 worth of discounts and credits through the Claude Startup Stack, CNBC reported. Eligible organizations can also access a one-time $1,000 API credit and a free year of Claude Team for up to five premium seats. Members can meet Anthropic’s applied AI team through virtual office hours and connect with other members at events.

TechCrunch reported that the new version of the program launched as part of Anthropic’s SF Tech Week event. It said companies also get access to Claude Marketplace, which lets them build plugins for the service, and can book virtual office hours with Anthropic’s Applied AI team. Startups founded within the last five years or funded within the last two years are eligible to apply.

CNBC reported that the vast majority of Anthropic’s revenue comes from business customers and that the company has spent much of the past year trying to fend off rivals such as OpenAI and Google, which offer their own startup programs. As Anthropic prepares for what CNBC described as a widely expected blockbuster IPO, it is working to ensure that the next generation of businesses will be built using its products.
