AO Cuts £350 Off Asus Zenbook 14 OLED With Intel Core Ultra 7

AO has reduced the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED to £849 from £1,199, with an extra £38 saving for members. The 14-inch ultraportable offers an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and up to 18 hours of battery life, but lacks a discrete GPU.

The deal applies to a configuration with an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB SSD. It has a 14-inch WUXGA OLED touchscreen with 1920 x 1200 resolution, 400-nit brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 60Hz refresh rate. Graphics come from integrated Intel Arc 140T. The laptop also includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A, HDMI 2.1, a 75Wh battery and a backlit keyboard. It weighs 1.2kg and offers up to 18 hours of battery life.

TechRadar said the Zenbook 14 OLED is best for business professionals and students who want a lightweight laptop they can carry to multiple locations and need an OLED display without paying a premium. The publication said the combination of a compact aluminium chassis, 16GB of memory, 1TB of storage and up to 18 hours of battery life gives plenty of power for everyday work.

TechRadar identified several caveats. There is no discrete GPU for heavy 3D rendering or gaming. The integrated Intel Arc 140T graphics can handle some games, but the OLED display is limited to 60Hz, making the laptop better suited to productivity, streaming and creative work. The display is OLED, but it is a standard WUXGA panel rather than the higher-resolution 2.8K or 3K panels found on some Zenbook models. Its 1920 x 1200 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate are fairly basic specifications for a laptop originally priced at £1,199. The memory is LPDDR5X, which is typically soldered to the motherboard, so 16GB should be considered the maximum amount of RAM for this machine.

AO cut the price from £1,199 to £849, a saving of £350, or around 29 percent. AO members get an additional £38 discount. Membership costs £39.99 a year, so joining costs £1.99 more than the extra saving, which TechRadar said might be worth it if the buyer plans to purchase something else from AO this year. TechRadar said it had not found this exact configuration cheaper elsewhere at the time of writing, but the laptop has been as low as £729 in the past.

TechRadar advised buying the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED if the user needs a portable laptop for university, commuting or regularly working away from home.
