AOC Announces 1,000Hz Agon Pro AGP257FT Gaming Monitor for Q1 2027
AOC has announced the Agon Pro AGP257FT, a 24.5-inch Full HD gaming monitor with a native 1,000Hz refresh rate and 1,050Hz overclock, set for Q1 2027 with pricing to be confirmed.
TechRadar reported, citing a press release posted by TechPowerUp, that the AGP257FT uses an IPS panel with a 0.3ms grey-to-grey response time and DisplayHDR 400 support. Its native refresh rate is 1,000Hz at 1920 x 1080 resolution, and an overclock option can push the refresh rate to 1,050Hz. The monitor does not use a dual-mode design, so the 1,000Hz rate is available out of the box at Full HD rather than requiring a lower resolution.
The display is an oxide-based "Fast IPS" panel with 20-zone local dimming, 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, 99% coverage of sRGB, and a brightness rating of 450 nits. It supports Nvidia G-Sync and has an adjustable stand with 150mm of height range, plus tilt, swivel and pivot functions. AOC includes markings on the stand to help users return to a preferred position.
For connectivity, the AGP257FT offers two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 2.1 connector and a headphone output. It also has a USB hub with three USB-A ports and a headset hook. TechRadar said the monitor is aimed at professional esports gamers, which suggests it will not be a budget product. The article noted that monitor prices may face pressure from the RAM crisis and global geopolitical conditions affecting shipping.
TechRadar also questioned whether most gamers need a 1,000Hz screen. Even with a top-end PC, players are unlikely to reach and sustain 1,000 frames per second in esports shooters, the article said. A 1,000Hz refresh rate can still provide a smoother image with less motion blur and lower input lag when frame rates are below that level, so the technology is not wasted in that scenario. However, TechRadar argued that the value of such a monitor is highly debatable for non-professional players. It also noted that some gamers may prefer a 720Hz OLED panel over an IPS display for motion clarity, and that most players would be better off spending more on the PC itself, especially given the RAM crisis.
Editor's Summary
AOC's Agon Pro AGP257FT brings a native 1,000Hz refresh rate to a 24.5-inch Full HD IPS gaming monitor, with a 1,050Hz overclock and a planned Q1 2027 launch. Pricing is still unknown, and the monitor is expected to target professional esports players rather than mainstream buyers. TechRadar questioned whether the high refresh rate justifies the likely cost for most gamers, especially when sustaining 1,000 fps remains difficult.
