Apple Adds AI-Powered Intelligent Assistant to Pages, Keynote, Numbers

Apple's iWork apps gain a beta Intelligent Assistant for Creator Studio subscribers, offering drafting, slide generation, formula help, and more in US English with iOS 27 or later.

The Intelligent Assistant is designed to work within each app's context. In Pages, it can start a first draft, adjust tone, generate images and shapes, and search for up-to-date information to incorporate into a document. In Keynote, it can generate slides, presenter notes, images, and shapes, and search for information to add to slides. In Numbers, it can uncover insights, build complex formulas, suggest charts, and generate tables using natural language. Apple says that in all three apps the assistant can offer guidance on where to start and how to use advanced features.

Beyond the AI features for subscribers, Apple says all users will benefit from a new file format in Keynote. The app will let users import and export presentations in a new Interchange Format (.keyx), which Apple describes as an open file format that will make it easier to edit Keynote files in other apps.

The 9to5Mac reporter who updated all iWork apps said they did not yet see the Intelligent Assistant, but noted that a server-side component may be activated soon.
