Apple Adds Controls to Hide Unwanted AI Suggestions in Messages

Apple's iOS 27.2 beta adds controls that let Messages users hide unwanted Siri AI Suggested Actions by category, or automatically after 30 days of non-use, according to 9to5Mac.

The feature first appeared in the initial iOS 27 beta, but Apple removed it after complaints that some suggestions were random. It returned in the iOS 27.2 beta. Apple describes Suggested Actions as one-tap options based on the context of a conversation, such as creating a reminder or a note. For example, if someone asks for photos, Messages can help find matching images by recognizing keywords, locations and people in the user's library.

In one example, a group message asks someone to shop and bring an item left behind. Messages offers one-tap buttons to Add to Reminders and Add to Notes. In another, when a user asks for specific photos, the app offers a button that leads directly to a search for matching photos.

The new controls in iOS 27.2 beta 3 let users selectively turn off unwanted suggestions. Suggestions can be toggled off by category, or Siri AI can monitor which suggestions are used and not used and automatically hide categories that have not been used in the last 30 days, according to the leaker.

The feature has divided users. Some find the suggestions useful, while others consider many of them annoying. 9to5Mac said its author was among those who found many suggestions more annoying than useful, but noted that other people are big fans. The publication said the added controls should keep everyone happy.
