Android Authority reported that the HomePod mini 2 keeps the same design as the first-generation model, making the two generations difficult to distinguish at first glance. The main new feature is Sound Glow, which turns the top area into a light show that reacts to bass and treble in real time and matches its color to a song's album artwork. The speaker also comes in two new colors, pink and green. According to Android Authority, the HomePod mini 2 supports a four-speaker surround sound setup when paired with an Apple TV 4K.

9to5Mac Daily reported in its October 13 episode that the HomePod mini 2 includes Siri AI, new colors, and Sound Glow. The same episode listed two other Apple announcements: a new HomeView smart display, available for pre-order for $299, and a new Apple TV 4K with an upgraded Siri Remote and an A19 chip. The podcast episode covered the HomePod mini 2, HomeView, and Apple TV 4K as its top stories for the day.
