Apple Buries Clarus the Dogcow Easter Egg in iOS 27 Settings

Apple hid a Clarus the Dogcow easter egg in iOS 27 Settings, tied to Liquid Glass controls and a 'Moof!' Siri reply.

In a report published Sept. 11, 2026, 9to5Mac said iOS 27 includes a setting that lets users customize the intensity of Liquid Glass transparency effects. A slider ranges from Clear to fully Tinted. On an iPhone, the setting is found by opening Settings, then Appearance, then Liquid Glass.

In that pane, Apple provides a faux website user interface so users can preview how the Liquid Glass appearance changes as they move the slider. The scrollable preview area contains text and photography from Apple Park.

The easter egg appears when a user scrolls to the bottom of that preview and keeps pulling up with a finger. That action reveals a photo of a Clarus the Dogcow figurine next to the Apple Park pond. Rainbow text reading "Moof!", the noise a dogcow makes, also appears in the example search text field. If a user types "Moof!" to Siri in Spotlight, Siri replies, "Nice dogcow."

9to5Mac said Clarus the Dogcow relates to an icon created by Susan Kare for the original Mac. It served as a glyph for the Cairo font, the classic Mac's icon font, similar to Windows' Dingbats. The icon has essentially no utility, the report said; it is included as a bit of fun.

The report noted that many have complained that Apple design has been sapped of some of its trademark whimsy in recent years. 9to5Mac described the Settings easter egg as the latest example of how the tides seem to be changing.
