Apple Could Announce an October Event as Soon as Oct. 5, 9to5Mac Says

Apple could announce an October special event as early as Oct. 5 if it plans to unveil new smart home and HomePod products on Oct. 13, according to 9to5Mac, which says October event timing has varied widely.

9to5Mac reported that Bloomberg recently said Apple plans to unveil its long-rumored smart home hub, a new generation of the HomePod mini, and a new Siri AI-powered Apple TV 4K on Tuesday, October 13. Bloomberg did not specify whether Apple will hold an event to announce those products. If Apple does schedule an event for October 13, 9to5Mac said the company could announce it as early as October 5 but likely no later than October 7.

Since 2010, Apple has held an October event just 10 times, according to 9to5Mac. The most recent was the Halloween-themed Scary Fast event on the evening of October 30, 2023. Apple announced that event on October 24, six days beforehand. In 2021, Apple announced its Unleashed event on October 12 for an October 18 event, while in 2020 it announced Hi, Speed on October 6 for an October 13 event.

The lead times have varied. In 2018, Apple announced its There's more in the making event on October 18 for October 30. In 2016, Hello again was announced October 19 for October 27. In 2014, It's been way too long was announced October 8 for October 16. In 2013, We still have a lot to cover was announced October 15 for October 22. In 2012, We've got a little more to show you was announced October 16 for October 23. In 2011, Let's talk iPhone was announced September 27 for October 4. In 2010, Back to the Mac was announced October 13 for October 20.

Apple is also expected to announce an OLED iPad mini, new iMacs, and several new MacBook Pros, including touchscreen models, in 2026, according to 9to5Mac. It remains to be seen whether some of those products would appear at the same event as the rumored October 13 devices, at a separate event, or through press releases.

Apple has used press releases instead of events for some recent product launches. In October 2024, it announced new Macs through press releases over three consecutive days. In October 2025, it unveiled the M5 chip alongside new iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Apple Vision Pro models without holding an event.

Apple has held a November event only once, in 2020, when its One More Thing event introduced the first Macs powered by the M1 Apple silicon chip. That year was unusual for Apple's event schedule: the company held separate events in September and October after a rare late-June WWDC, as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted its usual timeline.
