Apple Expands Qnity's iPhone 18 Pro Camera Role, Continues Creator Studio Acquisitions

Apple expanded Qnity's iPhone 18 Pro camera role and continued Creator Studio acquisitions ahead of Oct. 28 news.

CNBC's Investing Club said a tighter partnership with Apple is incrementally positive for Qnity and that greater involvement in the 18 Pro is a good sign the relationship will hold with future iPhone generations. The club said it was not buying more Qnity shares on the news because it places greater emphasis on Qnity's fast-growing data center business than on consumer electronics, where it sees a less favorable outlook due to rising memory prices and other supply constraints.

The Qnity announcement came as U.S. stocks moved higher Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq poised for back-to-back gains, CNBC reported. Earnings have been generally solid, with most major companies beating estimates and raising full-year guidance, though reactions to the better-than-expected reports were mixed. Oil prices and Treasury yields fluctuated during the session.

In a separate Apple development, 9to5Mac reported that Apple has acquired a series of companies tied to Apple Creator Studio, including its latest purchase, Samplab. Samplab describes itself as the “ultimate audio editor for musicians,” a feature set that fits Logic Pro. Apple Creator Studio debuted in January as a suite of professional apps for creatives that includes Pixelmator Pro, Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro.

Earlier acquisitions also fit that strategy, according to 9to5Mac. MotionVFX brought visual effects templates, plugins and motion graphics tools for Final Cut Pro, while Color.io provided tools for color management and grading of digital imaging. The acqui-hire of Huxe could also benefit Creator Studio. 9to5Mac said the acquisitions can support services revenue and Apple's broader pitch to creative users.

Apple is expected next week to unveil four new hardware products aimed at creatives: a redesigned MacBook Pro with touch, a modernized iPad mini, and M6 versions of the iMac and MacBook Pro, 9to5Mac reported. The company's software and services push is set to dovetail with those hardware announcements, and Creator Studio apps may get some spotlight during Apple's “Pro and tell” announcements on Oct. 28.
