Apple expected to unveil redesigned MacBook Pro next week

Apple is expected to unveil a redesigned MacBook Pro next week; 9to5Mac also reports discounts on current models.

Citing rumors, 9to5Mac said the new MacBook Pro’s biggest design change is weight. Apple has reengineered the interior, miniaturized parts and rearranged components to make the computer significantly lighter, according to Mark Gurman, the report said. The design is expected to be only a little thinner than the current model, and because it is not expected to slim down too much, ports are likely to see minimal changes.

The new model is also expected to use an OLED display. 9to5Mac said Apple has used OLED in iPhones for years and on the iPad Pro, where the 2024 model introduced tandem OLED; the MacBook Pro would bring that display technology to the Mac. The OLED screen is expected to include full touchscreen capabilities and touch optimizations across macOS Golden Gate. Touch would be a secondary option rather than a replacement for the trackpad and keyboard, the report said.

The redesign is also reported to remove the notch that Apple brought to the MacBook Pro in 2021. 9to5Mac said the new model would use a hole-punch camera cutout and is expected to add a Dynamic Island feature, which could also come to older Macs through a software update.

Alongside the expected launch, 9to5Mac tracked discounts on current Apple products. Amazon is offering the 16-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro with 36GB of RAM and 2TB of storage for $3,499, down $900 from the $4,399 list price. 9to5Mac said that is the lowest price it has tracked for the machine at Amazon, before or after a price increase, and that the deal is $400 below the $3,899 launch price.

Amazon is selling Apple Pencil (USB-C) for $69, 13% below the $79 list price, and Used: Like New listings are available for $61.29. 9to5Mac said Apple Pencil (USB-C) is the only Apple Pencil model that the new iPhone Duo will support starting next week; Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil 2 will not work with the device.

AirPods Pro 3 are $199 on Amazon, $50 off the $249 list price. 9to5Mac said that is $20 above the lowest price it has tracked since late June 2026 and that the fall Prime Day event earlier this month was the only time in the last four months the earbuds sold for less.

Apple TV 4K preorders remain at $289.99 on Amazon, below Apple’s price, though delivery estimates have slipped into late November and December in some locations, 9to5Mac reported. Apple lists preorder deliveries for November 30 to December 7, while Amazon does not show an arrival estimate until a preorder is placed, the report said. MacBook Neo is $120 under list price from Apple’s refurbished store with a full warranty, and 240W USB-C cables with mini displays are priced at $11 each, according to the report.
