Apple HomeView Smart Display Arrives Nov. 13 and Is Already $10 Off at Amazon
Apple’s first smart display, the HomeView, is set to launch November 13 for $299, but Amazon is already offering it for $289.99 in two colors, according to The Verge.
The Verge reported that the discount is small, though deals on new Apple devices before launch are rare. Apple announced the HomeView on Tuesday. The publication said a full review is expected in November, but its colleague Jennifer Pattison Tuohy spent brief time with it and described it as an “iPhone for your home” that looks a bit like an oversized Apple Watch.
The HomeView has a seven-inch square touchscreen. It can recognize up to six household members and automatically switch between personalized experiences, displaying information relevant to whoever is using it, according to The Verge. The display also works as a smart home hub with support for Matter and Thread. Users can control compatible smart home devices, view live feeds and recorded footage from HomeKit Secure Video cameras, and more, the publication said.
It includes a 12-megapixel FaceTime camera for video calls. The device also functions as an entertainment product, allowing users to play music, display photos, and more, according to The Verge. Apple’s AI-powered Siri assistant is a central part of the experience, letting users ask questions and get information using personal context from messages, calendar, and emails. The Verge said that can mean asking Siri to find lost keys, play a song someone texted, pull up a recipe with step-by-step instructions and built-in timers, or help keep track of a schedule without reaching for a phone.
Amazon’s $10 discount is available now. Apple and Best Buy list the HomeView at $299. The device is scheduled to arrive November 13.
