Apple Invites for iPhone Adds Full-Resolution Albums, Image Playground Backgrounds
Apple released an Apple Invites update for iPhone that adds full-resolution Shared Albums open to non-Apple users, photorealistic Image Playground backgrounds and link-based email verification for guests.
The update draws on features introduced in iOS 27, the report said. Shared Albums inside the invitations app now support full-resolution sharing, so photos contributed during an event stay at their original quality rather than being compressed. Apple said anyone can join and contribute to a shared album, including people who do not own an Apple device.
Image Playground, Apple's generative image tool, now produces high-quality invitation backgrounds in nearly any style, including photorealistic, according to the release notes for the update. The change is aimed at letting hosts match an invitation's appearance to the tone of the event they are planning.
Guests who are required to verify their email address can now tap a link delivered to their inbox instead of entering a code, which Apple described as making it easier to get into an event. The build also contains bug fixes and performance improvements, the release notes said.
Apple Invites is available for download from the App Store. Creating an invitation requires an iCloud+ subscription, while replying to an invitation does not, so anyone who receives an invitation can respond regardless of whether they pay for the service, according to Apple.
Apple has not said whether the new capabilities will reach its other platforms.
