Apple readies 'Surprise and shine' event after 11 product launches in 2026

Apple has announced 11 new hardware products so far in 2026 and will hold its biggest event on September 9, with expectations including a foldable iPhone, iPhone 18 Pro, and new Apple Watches.

The year's announcements began on January 26 with the second-generation AirTag. The tracker, priced at $29 for one or $99 for a four-pack, uses Apple's second-generation Ultra Wideband chip to extend Precision Finding range by up to 50 percent, and adds a louder speaker and longer Bluetooth range, 9to5Mac reported.

March brought the majority of product launches. The lineup included the $599 iPhone 17e, the M4 iPad Air in two sizes, the M5 MacBook Air, the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro, an updated Studio Display, the new Studio Display XDR, the MacBook Neo, and AirPods Max 2.

On August 25, Apple introduced updated Mac mini models with M6 or M5 Pro chips, and Mac Studio options with M5 Max or M5 Ultra. Pre-orders are open and customers will receive the computers starting September 22, according to 9to5Mac.

TechRadar reports that the September 9 event will likely be headlined by the iPhone Ultra, Apple's first foldable phone. Expected to have a 7.8-inch foldable display and a 5.5-inch cover screen, the device may resemble Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, with a possibly crease-free screen and a starting price of at least $2,000.

The event is also expected to bring the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with a likely A20 Pro chip, a smaller Dynamic Island, and possibly a variable aperture camera, according to TechRadar. The phones could start $100 to $300 higher than the iPhone 17 Pro series. The base iPhone 18 may arrive only in 2027.

Apple could also unveil the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, with possible Touch ID and new chips, plus AirPods 5 models. TechRadar also mentions the possibility of a smart home display, a new HomePod mini, and an Apple TV 4K, though some of these may not be ready until later.
