Apple releases public beta 4 for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27

Apple has seeded public beta 4 for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and tvOS 27, with build numbers matching the developer beta 6 versions released hours earlier.

The updates arrive as Apple approaches the official release of the new operating systems, which is expected in a few weeks. The builds focus on bug fixes and performance improvements. In macOS 27 Golden Gate, the beta introduces a new wallpaper and redesigned stoplight window controls. The update also appears to resolve a Pinned Messages interface bug from beta 5. Other changes include an updated notification animation on iOS and a refreshed Preview icon on the Mac that matches the iOS version from last week.

9to5Mac reported the availability and outlined how users can join the public beta program. To enroll, users can visit beta.apple.com, sign in with their Apple Account, and follow the steps for each device. On an iPhone, after enrolling, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, select iOS 27 Public Beta, then tap Update Now when the beta appears.

Apple recommends installing beta software on a secondary device. If users install on a primary iPhone, they should make sure they have a recent backup first.
