Apple Releases Third Developer Betas for iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 Golden Gate

Apple has seeded third developer betas for iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2 Golden Gate, watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2, two weeks after the previous round. The betas expand Siri AI languages and add a redesigned Health app and Apple TV profiles.

For iPhone, the iOS 27.2 developer beta 3 follows the public launch of iOS 27 on Sept. 14 and moves past iOS 27.1, which Apple has presented as an iPhone Duo-focused release. The beta includes the redesigned Health app that Apple first announced during its iPhone 18 Pro event, Dual capture mode in Group FaceTime, Siri AI support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, Apple TV app profiles on iPhone, and changes to Apple Podcasts and Apple Music. In Apple Podcasts, Up Next is now New Episodes, the Continue Playing section sits directly below New Episodes, and episode lists have color-matched backgrounds. Apple Music now uses less of the app icon’s color for labels inside the app. Apple released the first iOS 27.2 public beta last month.

The 27.2 cycle follows Apple’s iPhone Duo-related software work. The iOS 27.1 SDK is designed to let developers take full advantage of the iPhone Duo display, according to 9to5Mac, and Apple released Xcode 27.1 beta on Sept. 18 with an iPhone Duo simulator and app development support for the foldable iPhone.

For iPadOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2, beta 3 arrives with the features already introduced in the 27.2 cycle. Those include the all-new Health app with Apple Intelligence, Apple TV profiles for iPhone and iPad, a Mac-inspired Siri AI shortcut on iPad, and additional Siri AI support languages. No public betas were available for beta 3 at release, but they will likely roll out in the next day or so, 9to5Mac reported. The outlet also said additional unrevealed features could be tied to forthcoming hardware announcements, with Apple rumored to launch new Home products, Macs, and other devices in the next few weeks.

The macOS 27.2 Golden Gate developer beta 3 is also available. Apple released the second developer beta of macOS 27.2 Golden Gate two weeks earlier, followed soon after by the first public beta using the same build. The largest user-facing addition in the macOS 27.2 Golden Gate beta cycle so far is Siri AI’s support for five more languages, after its English-only initial rollout last month with macOS 27 Golden Gate. Siri AI in macOS 27.2 Golden Gate adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, as Apple promised during its Surprise and Shine event.

Apple has not released a macOS 27.1 Golden Gate beta and instead went directly to macOS 27.2. According to 9to5Mac, the unusual sequencing was presumably related to iPhone Duo-related work that Apple wanted to keep under wraps before the device’s announcement earlier this month. Developers can install macOS 27.2 Golden Gate beta 3 through System Settings by selecting the macOS Developer Golden Gate Beta option in Software Update, after backing up their Mac.
