Apple Reportedly Plans Second Product Announcement Wave in Late October
MacRumors reports Apple plans another round of product unveilings in the final week of October, after a rumored Oct. 13 event for a smart home hub, HomePod mini and Apple TV.
The report, citing multiple sources familiar with the matter, says Apple will unveil another round of new products in the final week of October. It does not say which products will be announced, provide a specific date, or specify whether Apple will hold a second event or announce the products through videos and press releases.
The expected Oct. 13 event was reported over the weekend by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who said Apple will use it to announce a long-awaited smart home hub with a screen, a new HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV. Gurman's report came amid uncertainty over whether Apple would hold an event or announce the products through videos and press releases, as it has done in the past. Gurman had previously said only that Apple would unveil the products on Oct. 13, without specifying how they would be announced.
Beyond those three products, Apple had also been expected to unveil a new OLED iPad mini and new Macs, including an updated iMac and a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, both powered by an M6 chip.
The late-October announcements would cap an unusually busy month for Apple, according to MacRumors. The iPhone Duo is launching on Oct. 23, and the company is also expected to report quarterly results before the month is out.
