Apple reportedly raises iPhone Duo supply-chain orders by 30% ahead of Friday pre-orders
Apple reportedly raised iPhone Duo supply-chain orders by 30% ahead of Friday pre-orders, with 2026 supply nearing 10 million units.
Apple opened its “Get Ready” pre-order preparation feature today, allowing customers to save an iPhone Duo configuration before orders officially begin. Through the Apple Store Online or Apple Store app, customers can choose color, storage, and carrier options, and prepare a payment method. Apple said the process can include paying in full, financing with Apple Card, joining the Apple Upgrade program, or checking carrier offers. Customers who complete the steps ahead of time can finalize their order in a few taps when pre-orders start Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. PT/8 a.m. ET. The Get Ready option is expected to remain available through much of Friday, according to 9to5Mac.
Securities Times reported that the higher iPhone Duo order target follows a better-than-expected response since the device was unveiled last month. The report also said iPhone 18 Pro Max orders have increased by 10 percent to 15 percent and iPhone 18 Pro orders have been reduced by 10 percent to 15 percent. The total supply targets for the iPhone 18 Pro line are ultimately unchanged, the report said, contradicting a recent Nikkei Asia report.
TechRadar described the iPhone Duo as Apple’s first foldable flagship and said it could sell out, citing high interest and the smaller production batches that often accompany first-generation foldable devices. It noted that the Galaxy TriFold sold out earlier this year. TechRadar said it is difficult to predict whether the iPhone Duo will sell out but advised customers interested in the device to prepare in advance.
Apple has listed several opening promotions for the iPhone Duo. TechRadar said Apple is offering a trade-in rebate of up to $885 for unlocked devices, matching the maximum rebate seen on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. AT&T is listed with a trade-in rebate of up to $1,200 off with a new line, while T-Mobile is listed with a rebate of up to $1,000. Verizon’s opening promotion is not listed on Apple’s iPhone Duo page; on Verizon’s own page, TechRadar said, customers can combine the Duo with the carrier’s “Simplicity Pro” unlimited plan for $72.22 per month without a trade-in, with a $33 monthly discount on device payments.
Apple has offered its Get Ready pre-order window for the last several years. The feature is designed to let customers enter shipping details, storage capacity, color, and carrier preferences before pre-orders open, reducing the information needed at checkout. For the iPhone Duo, pre-orders officially begin Friday, October 16.
