Apple's HomeView to Ship November 13 With 19 Apple Apps at Launch

Apple's HomeView ships November 13 with 19 Apple apps at launch, four of which require an iPhone connection, 9to5Mac reports.

The launch lineup includes Alarms, Audiobooks, Calendar, Classical Music, FaceTime, Find My, Home, Intercom, Messages, Music, News, Podcasts, Reminders, Safari, Settings, Timers, TV, Weather, and World Clock. 9to5Mac said almost every app on the list is preinstalled on HomeView. According to Apple's website, however, four of them rely on an iPhone connection: Audiobooks, Classical Music, News, and TV.

Those four apps should work seamlessly if the iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network as the HomeView, 9to5Mac reported, but the report said early reviews will be needed to know for sure.

Third-party apps will also be available if they already have a CarPlay version and are classified as audio or video apps, according to the report. Spotify, for example, is expected to be on HomeView on day one.

9to5Mac noted that HomeView does not have a dedicated Photos app at launch. Photos faces and widgets are present, but users may want to browse their Photos library on HomeView as well, the report said. It described the lack of a dedicated Photos app as a major omission and said it hoped Apple would add more apps over time.

The app grid is part of a software experience that centers largely on voice interactions with Siri AI and customizable faces, according to 9to5Mac. The product is available to pre-order now and ships November 13.
