Apple's iPhone Duo launches worldwide as Apple retakes most valuable company title

Apple's first foldable iPhone launched worldwide Oct. 23, 2026, drawing overnight lines and limited walk-in stock.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple said customers filled stores on launch day and team members offered hands-on demos and personalized shopping support for the first foldable iPhone. Lines formed at Apple Stores worldwide overnight, with people hoping to buy an iPhone Duo through walk-in availability.

Apple had warned that inventory at retail stores would be "limited," and that appeared to be the case, 9to5Mac reported. Apple Store workers told disappointed shoppers to check the Apple Store app the next day at 10 a.m. ET for in-store inventory details.

Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, celebrated the launch at Apple's flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York alongside Apple retail executive Vanessa Trigub. Apple CEO John Ternus celebrated in Austin, Texas, at Apple's Domain NORTHSIDE location with retail chief Deirdre O'Brien. Mark Gurman reported that Ternus toured Apple's Austin offices this week. The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is also taking place in Austin this weekend, and Apple is the exclusive F1 streamer in the US, according to 9to5Mac.

The launch coincided with a Wall Street milestone. Apple reclaimed the title of most valuable company in the world on Friday as its stock reached new trading highs, 9to5Mac reported. Nvidia had previously held the top spot by market capitalization. Apple stock traded above $351 per share on Friday, setting a new intraday trading record for the company. With a market capitalization of about $5.12 trillion, Apple became the world's top company again, followed by Nvidia and Google. The iPhone Duo is Apple's $2,000 foldable iPhone.
