Apple's Joswiak Says Stores Will Have iPhone Duo Stock at Friday Launch
Joswiak says Apple Stores will have iPhone Duo stock for walk-ins at Friday's launch after extraordinary pre-order demand.
In an interview with TechRadar, Joswiak said Apple did not ship all units during the pre-order period. “You know, we didn’t ship them all away during the pre-order, we have them available at the stores, we’re excited,” he said. “I’m sure we’ll have some happy customers.”
“Well, I think you saw the pre-order demand last week was extraordinary,” Joswiak added. “People got it. They understood what we were doing.”
Apple said in a statement to 9to5Mac earlier this week that stores would have “limited” iPhone Duo availability for walk-in customers in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Macao, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, the United Kingdom and most stores in Italy.
The launch follows a pre-order period that 9to5Mac described as messy, with customers hoping to walk into an Apple Store and buy the device on launch day. Joswiak’s comments indicated that some of those customers would be able to do so.
Joswiak will be at Apple’s Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York for Friday’s iPhone Duo launch. He will likely be joined by other Apple executives, including CEO John Ternus, according to 9to5Mac.
