Apple Says Wall-Mounted HomeView Needs a 20W USB-C Adapter or Hardwired Power

Apple has published power requirements for the wall-mounted HomeView, which ships without a power adapter or mount. Buyers need a USB-C adapter rated at least 20W supporting 9V at 2.22A, or a compatible hardwired mount.

9to5Mac reported that Apple is selling two different mount options starting at $59 and says a third is coming in early 2027. For power, Apple says the wall-mounted HomeView requires a USB-C power adapter rated for at least 20W, with support for 9V at 2.22A or higher. If those requirements are not met, the device may display a "Not Enough Power" warning.

Alternatively, Apple says that depending on the third-party mount, the wall-mounted HomeView can be connected directly to a home's electrical wiring without a separate USB-C power adapter. Apple's support article states: "HomeView ships with a power cable and adapter. HomeView (Wall Mounted) requires a compatible third-party mount and power solution for operation, sold separately. Depending on the mount, you can use a separate power cable and adapter or connect to line power (hardwired)."

Apple lists different power requirements for the two versions. For HomeView, users should use a USB-C cable and a USB-C power adapter that is at least 30W and supports 15V at 2A or higher. For HomeView (Wall Mounted), users should use a USB-C cable and a USB-C power adapter, both sold separately, that is at least 20W and supports 9V at 2.22A or higher.

Apple also links to a compatible power adapter for HomeView or HomeView (Wall Mounted) and details troubleshooting for a HomeView showing a "Not Enough Power" message. The full support article is available through Apple's support site.
