Apple seeds beta 8 for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and more ahead of September launch

The latest iOS 27 beta is available through the Settings app on eligible iPhones for developers enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. It will likely become iOS 27 public beta 6, with the final version expected in the next few weeks. The release comes as Apple positions iOS 27 as one of its most AI-focused updates, centered on Siri AI, a rebuilt assistant powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Apple Foundation Models.

Siri AI brings richer conversations, personal context, broader world knowledge, on-screen awareness, and deeper app actions, according to the report. On iPhone, it includes a new visual experience tied to the Dynamic Island and a dedicated Siri app for revisiting conversations across devices. Visual Intelligence is also integrated, including a new Siri mode in the Camera app and improvements affecting Camera Control. Apple Intelligence is expanding across Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, Home, and other apps, with some capabilities running on-device and others using Private Cloud Compute.

iOS 27 also refines the Liquid Glass design with a new transparency slider for system UI. Other changes include performance improvements for app launches, Photos loading, Camera launch in Low Power Mode, AirDrop transfers, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular transitions, as well as Photos keywords and star ratings, customizable slideshows, smoother Camera behavior, continuous sending in Messages, Dual Capture in FaceTime, custom EQ for AirPods, new recovery options, easier Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpaper creation.

For the rest of Apple’s platforms, beta 8 of iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 is expected to focus on bug fixes and under-the-hood refinements. These are likely the final beta updates before release candidate builds debut next Wednesday after Apple’s September launch event. The report notes that watchOS 27 could introduce new health features and watch faces that have not appeared in beta, perhaps unveiled alongside new Watch hardware next week.

macOS 27 Golden Gate beta 8 is also out for developers. At this stage Apple appears focused on bug fixes and performance improvements; beta 7 had no notable user-facing changes, while beta 6 redesigned traffic light window controls with a more Liquid Glass-like appearance. The update will bring the new Siri app alongside Siri AI, an AI-powered Shortcuts app that can build shortcuts from natural-language prompts, a prompt-based extension builder in Safari, new Golden Gate-themed wallpapers and screensavers, and restored fixed-radius corners for windows after macOS 26 introduced dynamically changing corner radii.
