Apple Ships First RCs of macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2
Apple released the first release candidates of macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 on Oct. 7, saying the updates carry important security fixes. The builds later reached public beta testers with unchanged numbers.
The release candidate for macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 carries the build number 24H219, while the release candidate for macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 is build 25G320.
The two updates were issued without regular beta versions preceding them, which 9to5Mac described as the usual practice for point updates to older macOS releases. Apple's release notes for the first release candidates state only that the updates provide important security fixes and are recommended for all users.
The previous round of updates, macOS Sequoia 15.8.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.1, arrived late last month and each went through two release candidates before their official rollout. Those updates contained a single CoreGraphics security fix, whose details read: processing a maliciously crafted file may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple said at the time it was aware of a report that the issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on versions of iOS before iOS 27.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple will likely detail the fixes contained in macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 after their official release, which is expected to come alongside macOS 27.2 Golden Gate within the next few weeks. The two release candidates were issued on the same day Apple began rolling out public beta 2 of macOS 27.2 Golden Gate.
