Apple Ships Second Public Betas for iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2, Plus First RCs for Older macOS Releases
Apple released second public betas for iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 on Tuesday, bringing the redesigned iPhone Health app and five new Siri AI languages, and issued first release candidates of macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 with unspecified security fixes.
The iOS 27.2 public beta 2 carries the redesigned Health app for iPhone that Apple first announced at its iPhone 18 Pro event, according to 9to5Mac. The same release adds dual capture mode to Group FaceTime, extends Siri AI support to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and brings Apple TV app profiles to the iPhone. In Apple Podcasts, the Up Next section is now called New Episodes, with the Continue Playing section placed directly beneath it and color-matched backgrounds on episode lists. Apple Music labels now use less of the icon's color.
iOS 27.2 follows the official launch of iOS 27 on September 14. The 9to5Mac report states that iOS 27.1 is limited to iPhone Duo, and that iOS 27.2 is scheduled for official release later this month. Developer and public beta paths are both open for iPhone users who want to test the Health app early.
For iPad, the second public beta matches the build distributed to developers a day earlier as developer beta 3. Smaller changes reported in these betas include design updates in Apple Books, a redesigned Apple Music logo and splash screens in a couple of apps. 9to5Mac reports that code inside the betas reveals new features expected to be announced next week for Apple TV 4K and HomePod, though they are not yet visible to public beta users. Apple is expected to launch new products next week and again later in October, according to the same report.
macOS 27.2 public beta 2, build 26B5101f, is identical to the developer beta 3 released the previous day, arriving after a two-week break in testing. Its headline feature is the addition of five languages to Siri AI, which Apple announced at last month's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo event and which will join English as supported languages.
The first release candidates for macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 carry builds 24H219 and 25G320 respectively. Apple issued the candidates without first publishing regular betas, a pattern 9to5Mac describes as typical for point updates of older macOS versions. Release notes for both say only that they provide important security fixes and are recommended for all users.
Last month's macOS Sequoia 15.8.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.1 each went through two release candidates before their official rollout. Those updates contained a single CoreGraphics security fix, whose details stated that processing a maliciously crafted file may lead to arbitrary code execution, and that Apple was aware of a report that the issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on versions of iOS before iOS 27. Apple will likely detail the fixes in macOS Sequoia 15.8.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.7.2 after their official release, expected alongside macOS 27.2 Golden Gate within the next few weeks.
