Apple released watchOS 27.0.1 for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, fixing unexpected restarts reported by some users.

The release notes distributed with the update state that it "provides bug fixes for your Apple Watch including fixing an issue where Apple Watch may restart unexpectedly." Apple has not described any other changes in the build.

On Reddit and other forums, some owners of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 reported that their new watches were restarting at random several times a day, 9to5Mac reported. The problem did not affect every user, but the volume of reports pointed to a defect in the two newest models rather than isolated hardware failures, and the update is intended to resolve it.

The update follows the pattern Apple has used for previous Apple Watch releases, issuing a small maintenance build limited to the devices affected by a specific fault instead of a broader version for the full lineup. Owners of older Apple Watch models do not receive watchOS 27.0.1 and are not covered by the fix.

Apple has not said how many watches were affected or what caused the restarts. Users who have already installed the update and those still seeing restarts have not been cited by the company.
