Apple to Add Korean Support to Siri AI This Month in South Korea

Apple will add Korean support to its generative AI-powered Siri in South Korea this month after a September English beta, with local app integration and work with Kakao and Naver reported by Yonhap.

Apple described Siri AI as a more capable and conversational assistant that can understand personal context, draw on broad world knowledge, recognize content on screen and perform more actions across system apps. In one example cited by the company, a user can ask Siri for the recipe of a dish eaten on a previous trip; the assistant can search the user's message logs and return a link to the recipe.

The assistant also includes visual intelligence, which Apple says provides image understanding and multimodal capabilities. Users can ask questions about visual content on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro, according to the company.

Apple is said to have expanded Siri AI's integration with South Korean apps and is reportedly working with local IT companies including Kakao Corp. and Naver Corp. to optimize the service, Yonhap reported.

Siri AI is powered by Google's Gemini, Apple said, but the company said the service operates within Apple's own security framework. Apple also said it is designed to immediately delete data for answers that require AI workload processing.

The Korean-language service would extend Apple's new Siri to South Korean customers after the English beta, the sources said.
