Apple TV announces three new releases coming in the coming weeks

"Dark Matter" season 2 will premiere on Friday, August 28, with its first episode, followed by weekly releases through October 30. The show is based on Blake Crouch's bestselling novel and stars Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly. Apple's official description says the series follows Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor and family man who is abducted into an alternate version of his life while walking home in Chicago, and the story explores the road not taken. The novel is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its release this year.

The film "Mayday" will premiere exclusively on Apple TV on Friday, September 4. It is an action-buddy comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh that flips the spy thriller genre. Apple's plot summary describes Reynolds as hotshot U.S. Navy pilot Lieutenant Troy "Assassin" Kelly, who is sent on a top-secret mission into Russian territory at the height of the Cold War. When the operation fails, he is stranded behind enemy lines and discovered by Nikolai Ustinov, a gruff ex-KGB agent with a penchant for American culture, played by Branagh. The two form an unlikely alliance that could lead to Troy's rescue.

"Slow Horses" season 6 is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, September 16, with episodes rolling out weekly through October 21. The series, one of Apple's most critically praised shows, stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of a group of British intelligence agents relegated to a MI5 dumping ground after career-ending mistakes. Apple's summary calls the show a "darkly funny espionage drama" that follows the team as they navigate the espionage world to defend England. The report notes that Slow Horses has consistently returned every year, unlike many streaming shows that take longer gaps between seasons.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month or through the Apple One bundle, according to the report.
