Apple TV Drops Trailers for 'Knife Edge' Season 2 and Everest Drama 'Tenzing'

Apple TV has released trailers for two upcoming premieres, according to 9to5Mac: the second season of culinary docuseries 'Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars,' which returns September 25, and 'Tenzing,' a film about the first Everest summit, opening in select theaters October 9.

"Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars" returns for its second season on Friday, September 25. The nonfiction series first debuted last fall and its first season received a BAFTA nomination in the Factual Entertainment category.

Season two follows 16 restaurants at pivotal moments in their journeys. One chef and his family risk everything to put a tiny island on Michelin's map. Two generations of a culinary family pursue recognition on their own terms. Two chefs voluntarily give up their Michelin Star when they open a new restaurant and have 52 days to win it back. A sandwich shop transforms into a fine dining restaurant each night, while a young couple seeks to place Filipino cuisine at the center of one of America's most competitive dining scenes. Each faces the same uncertainty, according to Apple's description: when Michelin makes its decision, whether everything they have worked for will be enough.

"Tenzing," the first of two Apple Original Films this fall with awards ambitions, is directed by Jennifer Peedom and stars Genden Phuntsok, Tom Hiddleston, Willem Dafoe, Caitriona Balfe, Thinley Lhamo and Tenzin Dalha. The film opens in select theaters on Friday, October 9, before streaming on Apple TV on October 16.

Based on true events, the film chronicles the story of Tenzing Norgay, played by Phuntsok, a Himalayan climber who, alongside New Zealand mountaineer Edmund Hillary, played by Hiddleston, became the first to summit Mount Everest. Encouraged by his wife Dawa, played by Lhamo, Tenzing finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson, played by Balfe. Together they persuade Colonel John Hunt, played by Dafoe, that Tenzing belongs on the British climbing team rather than merely serving it. Where Western climbers see Everest as something to be conquered, Tenzing reveres Chomolungma as the sacred mother goddess. What follows is an ascent shaped as much by tensions over background, class and competing ambitions as by the perils of the mountain itself.

Apple TV is priced at $14.99 per month and is also available at a discount through the Apple One bundle. Additional premieres are listed on the streamer's fall schedule.
