Apple TV Releases Trailer for Serial Killer Thriller 'Nocturne,' Premiering Oct. 30
Apple TV debuted the trailer for 'Nocturne,' a serial killer thriller based on Lars Kepler's novel 'The Sandman,' starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham. The series premieres Oct. 30 with two episodes.
The series stars Liev Schreiber and Zazie Beetz, with Stephen Graham, known for "Adolescence," playing the killer. In the official synopsis released with the trailer, Schreiber plays Jonah Lynn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who leaves the "tough streets of Philadelphia" for a small town in Western Pennsylvania in search of a quiet life. When the town and his family come under attack from the killer Jurek Walter, played by Graham, Lynn must protect what he holds dear. The search for Jurek's last missing victim pushes him to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer, played by Beetz, up against Jurek, raising the question of how far Lynn will go.
The trailer marks the first full preview of the series. Apple TV has built a library of crime thrillers in recent years and is adding several titles around the same period. Two weeks before "Nocturne," the crime thriller "12 12 12" premieres on the service, starring Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan. That series centers on a heist and covers 12 months of planning, the 12 hours of the robbery itself and the 12 days that follow.
Beyond the fall slate, Apple plans to open 2027 with the thriller "The Wanted Man," starring Hugh Laurie as an organized crime boss. The company has not announced a specific release date for that project. Apple TV is priced at $14.99 per month and is also available at a discount through the Apple One bundle.
The adaptation follows the popularity of the Lars Kepler novels, the pen name used by the Swedish writing duo behind the "Sandman" series of crime books. Apple has not said how many episodes "Nocturne" will run in total beyond the weekly schedule running through late December.
