Apple TV Releases Trailer for 'Stick' Season 2, Premiering November 4
Apple TV has unveiled the trailer for season 2 of its golf comedy 'Stick,' which returns November 4 with Owen Wilson as a former pro golfer chasing an unlikely comeback.
Two episodes will be available at launch, with the remaining episodes rolled out weekly through December 30, according to 9to5Mac.
Wilson plays Pryce Cahill, a former professional golfer whose playing career ended prematurely. In the first season, Cahill trained a 17-year-old golf phenomenon; in the new season, he returns to competition himself, with the help of a new coach played by Rhea Seehorn.
Apple's official season summary says that Santi, the teenage player, takes the next step in his pursuit of professional golf and discovers how quickly the game changes when talent becomes expectation. As Santi chases his dream, Pryce begins wondering what might still be possible for him. Urged on by his former rival Clark Ross, played by Timothy Olyphant, Pryce does something nobody expects: he bets on himself and launches an improbable comeback in the hope of becoming the oldest golfer ever to win a major.
The summary adds that the road back proves far harder than Pryce imagined, and that the closer he gets to the golfer he once was, the more he is forced to confront why he never fulfilled the promise others once saw in him. Working with his new coach Amanda, played by Seehorn, and his trusted caddie Mitts, played by Marc Maron, Pryce sets out to prove to the golf world, and to himself, that he may really have been as good as everyone always said.
Seehorn is also known for her role in "Pluribus." The season's cast also brings back Olyphant as Ross and Maron as Mitts.
The return of "Stick" follows the conclusion of the fourth season of "Ted Lasso," another sports comedy on the same streaming service. 9to5Mac's reviewer wrote that viewers do not need to care about golf to enjoy the show, and compared its tone to Apple comedies such as "Ted Lasso" and "Shrinking," adding that the series found its stride late in its first season.
Apple TV is priced at $14.99 per month, or can be purchased at a discount through the Apple One bundle.
