Apple TV Sets Two New Holiday Specials and Free Weekends for Peanuts Classics

Apple TV will debut two new holiday specials, offer free weekend access to three Peanuts classics and release a Chris Pratt family film in November.

The first of the new titles, "Snoopy Presents: 12 Days of Snoopy," debuts Friday, November 13. "Fraggle Rock: A Holiday Gift" follows on Friday, December 4. Both additions join the existing Peanuts and Fraggle Rock catalog already carried on the service.

Apple also highlighted the family film "Way of the Warrior Kid," which premieres Wednesday, November 25 and stars Chris Pratt and Linda Cardellini. The film is not built around the holidays, but Apple has a practice of releasing a new family title around Thanksgiving each year. In the story, middle schooler Marc, played by Jude Hill, is bullied by classmates and feels behind in academics, physical education and friendships. That changes when his injured uncle Jake, a decorated Navy SEAL played by Pratt, spends the summer recuperating with Marc and his mother, Sarah, played by Cardellini. To help his nephew defend himself, Jake devises a program he calls "Operation Warrior Kid," drawn from his SEAL training. Rather than teaching Marc how to fight, Jake shows him what real courage is while confronting his own difficulties.

Alongside the premieres, Apple will make three Peanuts holiday specials available free to everyone on specific weekends. "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" will be free October 17-18, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" on November 14-15, and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" on December 12-13. Subscribers can stream the specials at any time throughout the year; the free windows apply to non-subscribers as well.

Other holiday titles on the service include the musical comedy "Spirited," starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell, and "Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas." Apple TV is priced at $14.99 per month, with a discount available through the Apple One bundle.
