Apple TV+ unveils September lineup with Ryan Reynolds film, 'Slow Horses' season 6, and Matthew McConaughey comedy
Apple TV+ is launching a packed September slate, including the Ryan Reynolds action-comedy 'Mayday,' the sixth season of 'Slow Horses,' and a new series starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, according to 9to5Mac.
The streaming service will kick off the month on September 4 with "Mayday," a genre-bending buddy comedy co-starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. Reynolds plays a U.S. Navy pilot on a Cold War mission who ends up stranded behind enemy lines, where he meets a gruff ex-KGB agent portrayed by Branagh, leading to an unlikely alliance.
On September 9, the thriller series "Last Seen" premieres. It follows police detective Ian Ridley, played by Patrick Brammall, whose life fell apart a decade earlier when his young daughter vanished. Now working as a dispatcher, he receives a distress call from a teen he believes is his daughter and becomes determined to reunite his family.
The award-winning spy drama "Slow Horses" returns for its sixth season on September 16. The show, starring Academy Award winner Gary Oldman as the irascible Jackson Lamb, follows a team of disgraced MI5 agents in a dumping-ground department who defend England from covert threats.
On September 23, the comedy series "Brothers" debuts. McConaughey and Harrelson play fictionalized versions of themselves, whose lifelong friendship is shaken when they discover a decades-old secret that they might actually be brothers. The chaos unfolds as Harrelson's character moves his family into McConaughey's Austin ranch, with a possible gubernatorial run adding to the mix.
Also confirmed for September is the second season of the docuseries "Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars," which follows top chefs pursuing a Michelin Star. An exact premiere date was not disclosed, but Apple confirmed the season's arrival.
In addition to these premieres, September will see ongoing episode drops for current Apple TV+ shows, including the dystopian sci-fi series "Silo" through September 4, the Spanish-language crime drama "Women in Blue" through September 30, the Jason Sudeikis comedy "Ted Lasso" through October 7, and the sci-fi series "Dark Matter" with Joel Edgerton through October 30.
Apple TV+ is available for $14.99 per month, or as part of the discounted Apple One bundle, according to the report.
