Apple unveils iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max with A20 Pro chip

Apple unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, adding an A20 Pro chip, new colors, and a longer battery.

The two reports gave different color lists. The Verge said the 18 Pro and Pro Max come in deep black, silver, “glacier,” and burgundy, with color-matched back glass. 9to5Mac listed black, blue, glacier (silver), and burgundy finishes. 9to5Mac also said the iPhone 18 Pro uses the same design as the iPhone 17 Pro, but with new colors and a new back design approach. The Verge said the new phones follow the major redesign introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max in 2025.

That redesign dropped titanium in favor of an aluminum body, introduced a vapor chamber to help keep the phone cool, and added a camera bar that stretches across the back, which Apple calls the “plateau.” The 17 Pro line launched in bold orange, silver, and deep blue. Last fall’s iPhone refresh brought an 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera that lets users take wide selfies even when holding the phone in portrait mode, according to The Verge.

Apple is introducing the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max at its first event with Ternus as CEO. He replaced Tim Cook on September 1, with Cook moving into an executive chairman role on Apple’s board, The Verge reported. The event marked the first product unveiling under that leadership change.

9to5Mac said the iPhone 18 Pro is now official and listed the second neural engine, the longest battery life in an iPhone, and the black, blue, glacier, and burgundy finishes as the main new details it highlighted. The Verge tied the A20 Pro chip to the new models and described the battery claim as purportedly the longest in an iPhone. The reports did not include pricing, release dates, or full specifications.
