Apple Vision Pro used in first FDA-authorized intraoperative surgery with Stryker app
Stryker said its SportSuite Vision app for Apple Vision Pro was used in a hip arthroscopy at Duke Health, after receiving FDA De Novo authorization in July.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Chad Mather III, an orthopedic surgeon at Duke Health. Mather said spatial computing allowed him to customize the placement of key clinical information to fit his workflow and access it within the sterile field, helping create a more comfortable, streamlined operating room setup. According to Stryker, arthroscopic surgeons often rely on multiple displays positioned throughout the operating room; SportSuite Vision brings those data sources together and supports a more ergonomic workflow.
In a separate healthcare-related announcement, Pfizer said it is using Apple Vision Pro to create an immersive mixed-reality experience, developed with Groove Jones, to illustrate its oncology work for patients, providers and internal stakeholders.
