Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 to Add Siri Recap and Live Rewind Later This Year
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 will gain Siri Recap and Live Rewind later this year, two watchOS 27 features.
Siri Recap, the first feature, is designed to ambiently take notes on conversations throughout the day and create high-level Apple Intelligence-generated summaries. Those summaries can be used later to jog the user's memory so the user can stay present in the moment, according to Apple's description cited in the report. If a user chooses not to save a summary, it auto-deletes after seven days. The feature joins a broader Siri AI effort in watchOS 27.
Live Rewind, the second feature, is another Audio Intelligence addition for the new Apple Watch models. It offers a more direct way to revisit something that was just said. According to Apple's description in the report, a double-press of the Digital Crown makes the watch show a text snippet of what was said in the last 15 seconds. That lets a user catch something missed or less familiar. The user can ask Siri about the content of the snippet or save it to the Siri app.
The 9to5Mac report points readers to Apple white papers for finer privacy details on both Siri Recap and Live Rewind. It says Siri Recap may be the kind of feature no one was necessarily asking for, but it could add valuable utility if the privacy protections are done right. For Live Rewind, the report says its utility seems less obvious beyond accessibility needs, while adding that it is interested in how the feature works in its finished form.
The report does not give an exact release date for either feature, saying only that they are coming later this year. The features are tied to Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The report also notes that the new models can be bought at a discount from Amazon and that older models are available through Apple's refurbished store.
