Apple Watch Ultra 4 Adds Readiness as a New Bezel Configuration Option

Apple Watch Ultra models offer more watch face customization than Series models, including Ultra-only faces, colors and fonts, and a bezel-type complication. The Ultra 4 goes further by adding the Readiness entry to that bezel list.

Readiness is also the name of a new app introduced on both Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. According to 9to5Mac, the app draws on fitness activity, vitals and sleep score data to produce a Readiness score. Overnight vitals include heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature and recovery HRV, while daytime vitals cover heart rate and recovery HRV.

On the Ultra 4, watch faces that support displaying bezel information now present Readiness alongside the existing bezel options, which are None, Seconds, Depth, Elevation and Training.

When selected, the Readiness bezel setting places the numerical score and its accompanying description at the bottom of the watch face. Four bars wrap the edge of the watch face to represent the different readiness score categories, and a dot indicates where the user's score falls within its category. Only the category containing the active score is illuminated.

Modular Ultra and the new Siri Modular face are among the watch faces that support the bezel configuration. 9to5Mac notes that the option is a way to keep the readiness score in view, since the figure can change over the course of a day.

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are both available now.
