Apple Weather in iOS 27 Adds Rain and Wind Forecast Views to the Home Screen

The Weather app's default forecast view, which users see each time they open the app, is now split into three options: Conditions, Precipitation and Wind. Conditions is unchanged from previous versions. Tapping the new rain and wind icons switches the display to the Precipitation and Wind views, and both the hourly and the 10-day forecasts change with the selection.
In the Precipitation view, users can see the chance of rain for each hour ahead, along with rain probabilities for the next 10 days that include measurements and estimates of the time of day the rain is expected. The Wind view shows gust speeds on an hourly basis and the ranges users can expect over the days ahead.
The change is limited in scope compared with the rest of the iOS 27 update, which the report describes as carrying a large number of new features for Apple Wallet, Calendar, Notes and Messages. The Weather app itself received fewer changes, with the rain and wind views the two additions singled out as notable.
The writer of the 9to5Mac report said the two views had been among the most useful parts of using iOS 27, because they make key information easier to reach while keeping users on the home screen rather than sending them into other parts of the app. The report did not specify whether the views would appear on iPad, Mac or the web version of Apple Weather, and Apple has not commented publicly on the addition.
The forecast data shown in each view is not new to the app, according to the report; the update changes where it appears and how many taps it takes to reach it. Users of the beta version, the report said, can switch between the three views at any point without leaving the home screen, and the same hourly and daily figures remain available in each mode.
