Apple Widens watchOS 27.0.1 Release to Every Compatible Apple Watch

Apple has expanded watchOS 27.0.1 to all Apple Watch models compatible with watchOS 27, a week after the update first shipped for Series 12 and Ultra 4, carrying the same restart fix. The company also released a batch of updates for iPhone, iPad, Vision Pro and Mac.

The update is now available for Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Ultra 3. Owners of those models can install it through the Watch app on a paired iPhone or directly on the watch.

Apple did not change the release notes for watchOS 27.0.1. They continue to state that the update "provides bug fixes for your Apple Watch including fixing an issue where Apple Watch may restart unexpectedly." The build shipped on Sept. 28 carries the number 24R365, the same build delivered last week to Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.

The staged rollout echoes Apple's approach during the previous cycle, when a point release reached the newest hardware first and older models days later.

Alongside watchOS 27.0.1, Apple released a broad set of software updates on the same day: iOS 27.0.1, iPadOS 27.0.1, visionOS 27.0.1, iOS 26.7.1, macOS 27.0.1 Golden Gate, macOS Tahoe 26.7.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.8.1. The watch release is the only one of the group being pushed out in two phases.

According to 9to5Mac, iOS 27.0.1 addresses an issue that could cause some iPhone 18 Pro models to restart while Face ID is in use. The remaining updates, including the three Mac versions and the visionOS build, consist of additional bug fixes and security improvements; Apple has not published separate release notes detailing those changes.

Taken together, the Sept. 28 releases cover devices spanning three Mac operating system generations as well as the current iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Vision Pro lines. The watchOS 27.0.1 rollout is complete for the supported hardware list as of that date, with no further models listed as pending.
