Aqara goes all in on smart lighting

Aqara unveiled new smart lighting at IFA, including a floor lamp, outdoor lights, and LED strips that support Zigbee and Thread.

The centerpiece is the Floor Lamp T1, a 4.6-foot-tall pole with an LED-equipped base. It offers RGBIC lighting across 18 individually addressable zones, creating a splash of color on the surrounding wall, similar to what Govee’s floor lamp does. The company is also moving into outdoor smart lighting with permanent lights that feature individually addressable LEDs, as well as RGBIC string lights that can be set to holiday colors or warmer and cooler white tones for ambience.

Aqara’s updated LED strip keeps the 16-million-color range of its predecessor but adds a new chip that supports multi-zone control, with 18 independent zones per 3-meter section. The second-generation downlight comes in 4-inch and 6-inch sizes, available with either RGB-CCT tuning or RGB-only output.

All of the lighting products shown at IFA work with Matter-enabled platforms such as Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings, Home Assistant, and Homey through Thread. Aqara has not yet disclosed pricing or availability for the new devices.
