Asus ROG NUC gaming mini PC drops to $3,499 at Amazon, says TechRadar

Asus ROG NUC, a top-rated gaming mini PC, is now $3,499 at Amazon after a $400 discount.

The ROG NUC is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU with 16GB GDDR7 VRAM. It also includes 32GB DDR5-6400 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe 4.0 SSD. A slightly less equipped version with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is also on sale for $2,962, down from $3,999. The system measures 11.1 x 7.4 x 2.2 inches, making it smaller than a Sony PS5.

In its review, TechRadar said: "This might actually be the best compact gaming PC I've ever seen - and it's smaller than a PS5, too." The publication tested the device for a full week, using it for work, gaming, and hosting virtual tabletop sessions. It reported triple-digit frame rates at 1080p across a range of AAA titles, smooth 1440p performance with DLSS, and 4K gaming at 60fps or better in most scenarios. The system maintained stable performance without overheating or throttling under sustained loads.

Port selection is another strong point, with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, six USB-A ports, dual HDMI 2.1 outputs, dual DisplayPort 2.1 outputs, and an Ethernet jack. The ROG NUC also supports up to five 4K displays, making it a versatile option for multi-monitor setups.

The $400 discount represents about 10 percent off the original price. Although $3,499 is still a considerable amount for a computer, TechRadar notes that it compares reasonably with full-size pre-built desktops of similar specifications, which often cost as much or more. The publication advises that this mini PC is best suited for those who want genuine RTX 5080-class performance in a tiny footprint, content creators with limited desk space, or users who want a full peripheral setup without a dock. However, it may not be ideal for those on a tight budget, as the fans can become loud under heavy gaming load, and upgradability is mainly limited to RAM and storage; the GPU is soldered in.

TechRadar also points out alternative mini PCs with eGPU support for those seeking more affordable options, but these lack the integrated performance of the ROG NUC. The deal is available now at Amazon, according to the report.
