Australian telcos extend deals on Google Pixel 11 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 plans

TechRadar reports that Australian carriers have extended pre-order discounts on Google Pixel 11 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 plans, with handset savings up to AU$1,000.

The Google Pixel 11 lineup includes the standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL, all featuring a redesigned camera bump with new LED notification lights called HiLight, a new Tensor G6 chipset, and 12GB of RAM. Starting prices have risen compared to last year's models, with the base Pixel 11 priced at AU$1,499, but storage now begins at 256GB instead of 128GB.

For the base Pixel 11, Vodafone is offering the cheapest telco deal, combining a AU$650 handset discount, an extra AU$100 off Android phones, and a AU$13 per month discount on the 65GB Small Plan for the first 12 months. The minimum cost is AU$794, with a total cost of AU$1,984.80 over 24 months. This offer ends on September 30, while the AU$100 discount expires on September 7.

For the Pixel 11 Pro, Optus is the best option, offering a AU$500 discount on the handset and a AU$20 per month reduction on the Small Choice Plus Plan for the first year. The minimum cost is AU$1,389, with a total cost of AU$2,548.56 over 24 months. For the Pixel 11 Pro XL, Optus offers a AU$1,000 handset discount, making it cheaper than the smaller Pro model, with a minimum cost of AU$1,139 and a total cost of AU$2,298.72 over 24 months.

Samsung's new foldables include the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the latter being the direct successor to the Z Fold 7. The Z Fold 8 features a short and wide 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch main screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the Ultra is thinner at 4.1mm and has a 50MP ultrawide camera, up from 12MP. Prices start at AU$2,699 for the Z Fold 8 and AU$2,999 for the Ultra, a AU$100 increase over the Z Fold 7.

For the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Optus is offering AU$600 off the handset and a AU$20 per month discount on plan fees for the first 12 months, making it the cheapest provider. The minimum total cost is AU$2,139, with a total cost of AU$3,298.08 over 24 months. For the Z Fold 8 Ultra, Optus also provides AU$600 off and the same monthly discount, resulting in a minimum total cost of AU$3,039 and a total cost of AU$3,598.32 over 24 months. Both offers run until October 6.

TechRadar also notes that outright purchases are an option, with some retailers offering discounts, and recommends pairing a SIM-only plan for cost savings.
