AYANEO Launches KONKR Pocket BLOCK Android Handheld With $79 Promotional Price
AYANEO launches the KONKR Pocket BLOCK, a Game Boy-style Android handheld, at a promotional starting price of $79.
The 2GB/32GB model has a recommended price of $89, while the 3GB/64GB version is listed at $109, Android Authority reported. AYANEO is currently offering promotional prices of $79 and $99 for the two models, respectively.
The Pocket BLOCK uses a vertical form factor and has no analog sticks. It does include four shoulder buttons on the back, placing it mainly as a device for emulating 8-bit, 16-bit and retro handheld games rather than more demanding systems such as the PlayStation 2.
Its core hardware includes a 3.33-inch 4:3 LCD screen with 960 x 720 resolution and a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. Android Authority said the processor should comfortably handle games up to and including PlayStation 1, Dreamcast and PSP titles. The handheld also has a 3,500mAh battery, a 3.5mm port, Android 12, Bluetooth 5, a microSD card slot and Wi-Fi 5. AYANEO has not confirmed charging speeds, but Android Authority previously reported that the device offered 10W wired charging.
The Pocket BLOCK is set to start shipping at the end of October, Android Authority reported. It will be available in Atoms White, Cube Purple and Original Grey; the Original Grey option echoes the original Game Boy. The launch follows the release of the similarly budget-focused MANGMI Air Y series, giving buyers another affordable vertical Android handheld option.
