Baidu AI Revenue Share Exceeds Half Again; Two Top Hedge Funds Add Positions
Baidu's AI revenue share hit 50% of Baidu Core for a second quarter; Duquesne and Appaloosa raised stakes.
The earnings release coincided with regulatory filings showing notable buying by two prominent Wall Street investment funds. According to 13F filings cited by Lei Feng Wang, Duquesne Family Office, run by investor Stanley Druckenmiller, established a new position of 88,000 American depositary receipts in Baidu during the second quarter. This was Duquesne's first position in a Chinese company since it liquidated its Alibaba stake in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Separately, Appaloosa LP, managed by David Tepper, increased its Baidu holdings by more than 600,000 shares in the same quarter while selling out of two other Chinese stocks, the filings showed. The disclosure offers a concrete look at how some large U.S.-based investors are positioned in Baidu as its AI business maintains a majority share of Baidu Core revenue.
