Baseus U2 Pro camera adds spotlight that tracks moving targets
Baseus launches U2 Pro camera with tracking spotlight, dual 3K views, AI alerts and local storage; US price $269.99.
The U2 Pro is available through Amazon in the US for $269.99, The Verge reported. The report said European availability starts on Oct. 15 at €269.99. The camera combines a fixed 3K camera for continuous monitoring of one area with a second 3K camera that can zoom, tilt and pan 360 degrees to cover other areas.
According to the report, the targeted light also improves video captured in the dark, increasing the chance that a subject can be identified. The light can also help a family with after-hours activity such as taking a dog out. Full-color night vision is intended to make it easier to identify people, animals or the color of a suspicious vehicle.
Using "AI-powered analysis," the U2 Pro will provide alerts when motion is detected with summaries and descriptions of what was seen, The Verge reported. The system differentiates between people, pets, vehicles and activities such as delivered packages. It is also designed to ignore irrelevant movement such as tree branches in the wind or regularly occurring activity so notifications do not become overwhelming.
Footage is captured only when motion is detected and stored locally on a 512GB encrypted memory card, according to the report. It can be accessed remotely through Baseus' mobile app, and live views can be monitored on Amazon Alexa or Google Home smart devices.
Baseus claims the U2 Pro can be installed in about two minutes using mounts for walls or ceilings, The Verge reported. The camera connects wirelessly to a home network and has a rechargeable battery rated for up to 150 days of use, a figure that may fall depending on activity on the property. An included 3W solar panel can be mounted on top of the cameras or a short distance away; 40 minutes of sun exposure generates enough power for a full day's use, according to the report.
