Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 Heart-Rate Earbuds Cut to $179 for Amazon October Prime Day

TechRadar reported that the US discount returns the Powerbeats Pro 2 to their lowest-ever price, while the UK deal does not match the lowest price seen there. The earbuds briefly fell to £141 in the UK in December last year, the outlet said. The discounted models include the lilac or Hyper Purple finish, Quick Sand gray, Jet Black and Electric Orange.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 are an update to the 2019 Powerbeats Pro. TechRadar said they improve on their predecessor with Apple's H2 chip, a lighter build, longer battery life, heart-rate monitoring and Qi wireless charging. The earbuds and charging case together offer up to 45 hours of battery life, which TechRadar said is longer than most competing workout earbuds.

In TechRadar's review, the outlet said the Powerbeats Pro 2 offer secure in-ear fit and head-tracked spatial audio. The reviewer preferred their heart-rate monitor to the one in Apple's AirPods Pro 3 because the Beats fit better and stayed secure during workouts. TechRadar added that the Powerbeats Pro 2 are not designed for wall-of-silence active noise cancellation, and users who need that level of ANC should look at other options.

Amazon also discounted other headphones and earbuds for the October Prime Day event. TechRadar said Apple's AirPods Pro 3 dropped to $179.99, with upgraded active noise cancellation, audio, in-ear design, live translation and heart-rate, workout and calorie tracking. The outlet also noted an $82 discount on flagship Sony headphones, a 20% discount on a separate pair of earbuds, and lower prices on older-generation QuietComfort headphones. Sony's WH-CH520 on-ears were also reduced after being superseded by the WH-CH530, and Soundcore over-ear headphones fell to their lowest price yet, according to TechRadar.
