Bilibili's First AI Creation Contest Concludes with Over 80% Solo Entrants
B站首届AI创造公开赛收官,超八成参赛者为一八团队,非专业开发者占六成,总奖金143万元,AI创作门槛显著降低。
The grand prize of 1 million yuan, part of a total prize pool of 1.43 million yuan, went to UP主 W博士 and AI猫娘 for their project "Catgirl Plan Project N.E.K.O.". The second prize was awarded to UP主 扎克鸡 for "Knight of Ages 3D", while UP主 电烤皇带鱼 took the third prize for "World Gate". Bilibili also announced that the second edition of the contest is coming, with support including billions of views in traffic.
According to contest data, over 60% of participants had no professional development background, more than 80% were one-person teams, and 88% had fewer than 10,000 followers before the contest. Among the top 10 winners, about half had fewer than 10,000 followers prior to the event. The average development time for more than half of the participants was under 30 hours per product, with costs controllable to below 500 yuan.
One standout case is UP主 电烤皇带鱼, who had been a Bilibili user for 14 years without ever publishing a video. He created the AI-generated open-world game "World Gate" by himself, spending about 1,500 yuan per month on token costs. The game allows players to select any area to create new entry points and scenery, interact with randomly appearing NPCs, and enjoy a degree of freedom not found in traditional open-world games. His two videos documenting the development process received nearly 5 million views in total.
Another featured creator, 扎克鸡, submitted three products and won three awards: a personality test game, a 3D fan remake of the 2D game "Knight of Ages", and an abstract meme-bending toy called "Wan Geng Nian". All of them were published on Bilibili's Toy platform, which handles hosting and distribution, letting creators focus on development and community feedback.
The contest also attracted participation from companies and institutions including Nvidia, Zhipu, vivo, Sequoia China, and ZhenFund, which provided application tools, hardware, computing power, and traffic support. Some entries have already received external investment; 26% of developers began considering entrepreneurship or product development after joining the competition.
Bilibili has become a major venue for AI content in China. In the second quarter of 2026, time spent on AI knowledge content on the platform grew 72% year over year, and over 190 million users watch AI content monthly. AI advertising revenue on Bilibili rose more than 100% year over year, according to the company.
